Zero: “The Dream”

Good morning, today I woke up with a slightly negative mind-set, which was not helped by people around me. Today’s post is about “The dream”.

“The dream”. What do I mean by that? I mean the vision that you see. Places you see yourself reaching, people that you see yourself possibly reaching out to and more. The things you want to achieve, where you want to be. Why did I wake up in this negative state? Well because when you are a fighter, When you are fighting to become a better you everyday- it’s going to be fucking difficult! Seriously at times you will feel so isolated and alone that you will want to fucking ball your eyes out. At times you will feel like no one sees this vision you have created for yourself- as though all it is , is JUST that….a vision, just a dream. As though your crazy, everybody around you is sane and your the insane one. At times in my life I feel as though my purpose is worthless and simply this ‘vision’ that I’ve fabricated. Truth is it won’t be easy, truth is you will feel mentally suffocated at times, there’s times when you won’t feel to share your aspirations because “what’s the point?” and the worst thing about it is that sometimes you will feel most distant towards those closest to you, because at first they won’t see what you see. This will tempt you into seeing your ambitions as minor or un-important.

Now, away with the negatives. Yes you will feel all these emotions, yes you will feel as though your vision is unimportant, yes you will feel as your journey is not worth having – simply because everyone else is not on this journey- they won’t encourage it, matter of fact many will discourage it and very few will support it. But fuck it! Point being all this shit doesn’t matter. All these people are irrelevant or at least they should be. It doesn’t matter if these people are family, or the closet friends you’ve had since childhood. If their not supporting the elevated new version of ‘you’ then simply make these people irrelevant and watch your circle begin to change, you will begin to meet people that are on a similar path to you- that understand your vision sometimes even before you do. This will all be part of becoming a stronger version of you, For example, you might have friends or even family that say “you go to the gym too much” ” you eat mad healthy- chill” ” lets go to Macdonald’s” ” Your so boring” ” Live a bit” “gym is not that important- its not priority.” People will lack the ability to view things how you view it – “live a bit” well you can live without being self-destructive and destroying the body that will carry you through . The body and the mind is the core- its an essential- it’s a priority- it is important. And the problem with our society today is that it is no longer viewed as one, it is neglected and abused. Reason why our health is no longer in the equation. Health is dying out and being replaced with quick fixes and solutions to problems that will not only promote more problems in our body but that could’ve been avoided if only we viewed our health and our body as priority. To summarise, I wanted to let you know I UNDERSTAND. I’ve been there, I am there, but how do I get through this? simple. Anyone that doesn’t see the vision, understand or encourage it, or support me in becoming the best version of myself… is irrelevant! Weather their family or long time friends- sorry but whatever. Its not to be mean or harsh… no don’t get it twisted. I call it “protecting your vision”, nurturing your mental and aiding yourself. Once  you are a stronger you, physically and mentally, this will be visible and the people that doubted you or tried to make you regress back to your old ways will want you to school them – how you’ve changed and how you’ve become a happier and healthier you, why your skin is no longer dull but now glows. Trust me… they will want to know. Your job is simply to trust the process and keep going! consistency is key, fuck the doubters, the fact that they doubt you is not your problem but theirs. This doesn’t reflect your capabilities  and abilities but theirs, people get mad when they see you doing what their one: afraid to do or two: don’t have the will power to do. Simply remembering this can make your life richer and exciting to live. Push yourself to strife to be the best you in everything you do everyday, every single day should be a day to correct the wrongs of yesterday. Get up – Fuck shit up – recharge – wake up – repeat! Simple. Its not always that easy but time is so precious , its the most precious thing  we’ve got (but that’s a whole other topic). But nevertheless, the point of this post is just to allow you to understand your not alone, & sometimes just knowing this can make so much more of a difference. Empower yourself, empower others – encourage others to repeat the cycle and create a new generation of empowered educated fearless people. Let’s strife to make a change but first with ourselves. Have a blessed day.

Change the way you think…

Today’s blog post is about changing the way you think- in order to change your life and accomplish your goals. In the process of becoming a better you physically, you will need to change your mental. The two go together. During this journey things will not always pan out the way you want them to- you will need to grow thick skin and keep it moving nevertheless. In our generation today we have been so conditioned to play the blame- game. Placing the blame on to others and never taking responsibility for our failures. We are in control of our life’s and most importantly our health! The reason why you are unhealthy, the reason why you get out of breath going up a flight of stairs, the reason why you don’t have your ‘dream’ body is because of you. In order to change that you need to start pointing the finger towards yourself- and understanding that the reason why your unhealthy and not the best version of yourself that you could be is because of you and only you.

Detach yourself from your feelings. I know I know… It doesn’t sound right- but really detach yourself and watch how things begin to change. Its part of the process of building self-discipline. Stop being a ‘bitch‘- we get caught up in our emotions far too much and as a result of this- this delays our journey towards accomplishing our goals. “I don’t feel like working out today” – “i’m too tired” – “I don’t have time” “I don’t feel motivated” “I haven’t got that…you know “ This is many excuses that I constantly hear. You don’t feel like going to the gym today- go anyway ! Its cold outside? It’s snowing? Its 45 degrees? Go anyway. All of those external things are completely irrelevant. Go either way, Becoming a better version of you is all bout building ‘good habits’, make working out a necessity. Re-programme your mental to view working out, drinking 3 litres of water a  day – your journey to great health as a NEED. You wake up in the morning and never forget or neglect brushing your teeth do you ? no. Start to view exercising and eating right this way. If you’ve planned to workout 5 days a week for example and have two days off and you’ve only managed to hit gym 3 days this week- reflect upon why it was you couldn’t work out the other two days- was it due to your emotions- if it was, that something you need to work on and move past.  One thing I would suggest is that just like having a food diary- have a ‘feel diary’ and similar to the food diary , in this ‘feel diary‘ you’ll record your emotions during the week . Its inevitable that you’ll have days where you don’t feel as enthusiastic or motivated- we are only human! HOWEVER, what separates the winners from the losers is that winners continue to win regardless of how they “feel” regardless of the weather, they never stop winning. Remember without health- we don’t have anything. Start to view this journey that your on as a lifestyle change- not a diet- not something your doing just for the summer or just for your birthday. No. A lifestyle change that you owe to yourself, a change that you are deserving of- therefore there can’t be no off days- or part time changes when you “feel” like it. It’s a necessity therefore you must continue on this journey that will never end but will only get better!

Starting out- Tips Tips!

Beginning your journey to health can be scary and I say specifically “health” and not “fitness” because fitness has loads of superficial connotations whereas health I see as giving your internal organs as much care as the outer shell even-though they don’t get as much attention. Anyway beginning is a great start that means you’ve already acknowledged that a change must be made which is great! Now onto my top 10 tips.

  1. DO NOT WAIT TILL TOMORROW. Live in the moment. if you want to make a healthy lifestyle change begin today don’t wait until tomorrow to stop binging on the junk ,start today. Moreover do not wait until Monday or even the new year to start your new lifestyle change- start on a Tuesday or Saturday even. Any- time it really doesn’t matter. Everyday is a new day- a new day to live and become one step closer to becoming the greatest version of yourself. So seize the day!
  2. Do NOT go on a “diet”, do not begin restricting yourself of essential food groups that your body needs in order to function in order to lose weight. Going on a diet indicates, short term results and more time when the results are accomplished the diet goes out the window. what diets do is take three of the most important components you need ie protein, carbs and fats and eliminates one of them and  doing this promotes short term results. Meaning once that weight is lost it will just be gained all back on . which you don’t want! Instead make a lifestyle change. Do not deprive yourself of any of the major food groups instead work on portion control. Maybe lower the amount of crabs you have. An example of a clean nutritious meal for meat eaters is ( 8 ounces of grilled chicken breast, a quarter to half a cup of brown rice and loads of leafy greens and vegetables)
  3. ” I worked out today so I can binge” – NO! it simply doesn’t work like that. Great healthy nutrition and exercise go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other. Ever heard the saying “you cannot outrun a bad diet”? true . Professional athletes will tell you themselves. They both need to compliment each other. Don’t go to the gym and spend loads of hours in there working up a sweat  and leave then binge on a big mac ….nooo. If you can’t do both or are not planning to do both then don’t bother. On average the female body takes up to 30-40 minutes of working out before it enter the fat burning stage, men slightly less about 20 minutes. So if you go to the gym and workout for an hour or so and straight after binge on a big mac, then the workout was completely pointless. Commit to this lifestyle change that your making. Be an example.
  4. Food diary- If your someone that knows you don’t have much food discipline, I would suggest creating a food diary. write down everything that you eat throughout the day- each day and at the end of the day review this list and see where you went wrong what you binged on for this day and how you can improve this the next day. Do not get discouraged, its not your fault if your someone that eats a lot of processed foods they have addictive agents that draw you towards them (I’ll make a post about that) but try your hardest to stay away from them. Don’t beat yourself down just set your sights ahead.
  5. LOVE YOURSELF !- This is really really important or if not completely find something  that you love -even if its just your hips or your calf’s that you like about yourself. I say this because, its not about looking towards this end product that you hope you’ll love, because if you don’t love your current self you’ll always find faults in your new self – love yourself, weather your skinny and trying to gain weight or slightly on the large side trying to lose weight it doesn’t matter, love yourself because this is the only way you’ll continue on this journey. its the only way, love is the language of the world and you can never really understand it until you begin to speak it, begin speaking the love in to your own existence and watch as your world and your body begins to change. Honestly its that simple.
  6. Set a Goal for yourself- and speak it in to existence. It may be a picture of what you used to look like or a picture of a friend or a fitness fanatic that really inspires you. speak this into your sub-concious and begin to visualise yourself. This will help motivate you on days when you feel like giving up.
  7. Never miss a workout – when your “just not feeling up to it” – don’t. Reason i say this is because those are the days that you will look back upon and smile and say you had the courage to push beyond any emotional struggle you had that day or any de motivation. understand the power of your mind and how this impacts dramatically on the changes also made to the body.
  8. “patience is a virtue”- remain patient. Do not expect quick results. Change doesn’t happen overnight. put in the time, the sweat and the energy and i promise you will get the results you desire. Don’t expect a quick change and don’t be discouraged when you don’t see immediate change, after eating and apple or one healthy meal or a couple of trips to the gym. Don’t be disheartened but continue and you will see results. Consistency is key – stay consistent and you will see results. You should aim to hit the gym or workout at least 3-5 times a week. Begin to fall in love with the process and not just see it as a burden. our health is our wealth and we must invest in it. On average it takes about 21 days to create a new habit- so keep going !
  9. Don’t be afraid to seek help or guidance- ask questions! If you don’t understand something ask someone at the gym whom you believe might- this is the only way you can learn or grow. Tiding into this always be open to tips and advice its the only way to grow.
  10. Last but not least- DRINK WATER !! Hydrate the body and replenish the cells, get the digestive system moving. The benefits of water are endless. From glowing healthier skin to calorie control, healthy kidneys etc. Aim to drink 2-3 litres of water a day. Or if your not much of a water drinker 6-8 cups a day to begin with and you can up it as you go along.
